Sy Kick – Upside [1992]

Cant be talking hardcore without having Sy-Kick make an appearance. The Nasty EP pretty much landed in every single DJ’s box, launching Brad Carter & Mark French into the consciousness of pretty much every single raver on the planet. Helped in no small part to the fanastic breaks and catchy riffs in heavy rotation on the entire EP. They wound up supporting the Prodigy during their first Experience tour, released a couple more 12″ and vanished until the late nineties when Bradley Carter re-emerged as “Ruff Driverz” getting another huge hit with “Dont Stop”.

From Discogs
This excellent Sy-Kick Promo-release contains one track which is unreleased elsewhere. This track is A2 -> The Journey.Massive banging old school track with some acid-elements.Maybe one of the most “technoish” track from SY-Kick.Brilliant!

Upside samples a 1983 electro tune called “on the upside” by Xena and puts some slammin’ breaks and a classic stab riff with the vocals. The Nasty remixes are both awesome piano tunes, hard to pick the better one. Great EP.
