Fluke – Slid (PDF Mix) [1993]

Another belting prog house tune from the Renaissance collection consisting of just a stomping tribal beat, heavy bongo usage and a rumbling bassline. Hands in the air, if you please!

Listen too the Glid Mix

From Discogs
An incredibly intense “progressive” house tune, “Slid” has perhaps most prominently featured on Sasha and John Digweed’s Renaissance compilation. Disc 2 of the classic mix compilation starts off even with two mixes from this record, and ever since release Slid (in any version) has often proven to be a perfect starting tune to kick off the evening and fill the floor.

All mixes here are superb, even though more often than not one would stick to the vocal mixes (first track on both sides). Here it becomes hard to decide which side to prefer: the stomping, groovy, funky Glid mix or the longer, evolving, percussion-crazy PDF mix on the flip. The uplifting vocals (“Into the deep from on dizzy heights / what a sight as the world flies by / nowhere to sliiide”), great build-ups and intense instrumentation make both versions prime examples of great dance music production.
