Sabrina Johnston – Friendship (Band of Gypsies Remix) [1991]

Band of Gypsies absolutely nail the remix of this vocal classic. Sure, the vocal has a light cheddar whiff but you know what, Ms Johnston has a voice like butter, toss in a driving piano cut and your laughing. Just another track that could have achieved pure greatness with a bit more percussion business. But come on, sing along, you know you want too…

“You can be my friend, if you have something. All it takes is a little bit of love and understanding..” Gwaaan!

From Discogs
A great summer anthem of 1991, memories of the Brothers in Rhythm remix in particular with the ‘hands in the air’ piano hook. The original stomp mix by producer Ken Johnston is a bubbler of a mix with a soulful ‘garage’ vibe, although the track sounds a bit dated now for some, i still think it has appeal especially for those that like to re-live those heady days of the early nineties.
